The series titled Homo Domestius focuses on creating female characters that are deprived from the notion of “feminity”. It is an essay to shape portraits of women without the obligatory “womanlyness”.

I was exploring the notion of double consciousness: Firstly the phenomenon that could be called “embelished servitude” as a Hungarian publicist (Gáspár Tamás Miklós) once put it.  By this he means the role in which women are trained to be meek, obedient, and “appropriately civilized”. Secondly their reactions to this situation (tiredness, anger, boredom etc)

For this project I started studying some 16-17th century portraits. I am after finding familiar facial expressions. I am collecting these details and using them as collages for some of my paintings.
